Here’s what you can expect at BCB Singapore on November 6 & 7, 2023.

The highly anticipated Bar Convent Singapore (BCB Singapore) is set to make its Asia debut on 6 and 7 November 2023. BCB Singapore promises to bring together Asia’s bar and beverage community under one roof, serving as a highly effective platform for industry professionals across the continent to connect, innovate, and celebrate the local bar and beverage community.

“Homegrown Heroes” – the highlight of BCB Singapore, will feature bars from across Asia partnering in a series of exclusive guest shifts with their homegrown bartenders currently working in Singapore. Expect to catch ReCraft from the Philippines, Penrose from Malaysia, and more, as they showcase a fusion of experiences that transcend borders and celebrate what their regions have to offer.

That’s not all. The two-day event will also feature an exhaustive lineup of education sessions led and crafted by over 40 renowned international bartenders, bar owners, and drinks experts. The speaker lineup includes Yash Bhanage (The Bombay Canteen), Monica Berg (Tayer & Elementary), Priyanka Blah (The Dram Attic), Alex Francis (Little Red Door), Lorenzo Antinori (Bar Leone), Vijay Mudaliar (Native & Analogue), and several more. Attendees can expect to witness engaging sessions covering craft bartending workshops, understanding sustainability, building equally profitable bar programmes alongside a restaurant programme, a workshop on agave spirits, and many more. The full programme is available to view here.

BCB’s educational aspect has always been known to be valuable to those attending, supplying a steady balance of craft and business led topics to choose from. Damien Guichard, Brand Ambassador for BCB has been instrumental in the development of BCB’s educational programme both online and offline and has been working closely with the team in Asia to bring the same level of learning here. “It’s been an exciting opportunity to be able to contribute to the education program at the first ever BCB in Singapore. I’ve been able to share my experience coming from the Berlin show that has been running for years, and long before me. But mostly I learn about challenges and opportunities in a market that is completely new to me thanks to the expert opinions from Peter Chua under the guidance of Henry Stonham.”

So what was the strategy when curating the educational aspect of BCB Singapore? “We tried to strike a balance by bringing international names while allowing local Asian talents to shine with for example an exciting panel from India. It was fun to swap perspectives: those far away talents from my European perspective would be the local ones this time and vice versa. I’m excited to see the show grow with the years and be able to contribute to its fine tuning!”, says Damien.

Over 150 global brands will participate in this inaugural edition of BCB, across categories such as rum, gin, whisky, agave, shochu, sake, etc. The team at BCB Singapore has been working tirelessly to onboard these brands in an effort to ensure the show covers multiple aspects of Asian distillation in addition to brands from other continents.

“BCB has always played host to a rich wealth of craft and premium brands, whether it be global market leaders or young distillers emerging onto the scene for the very first time. With BCB coming to Asia, it provides an opportunity for producers in this region to showcase its unique take on distilling, not just in the common spirits categories, but also to educate about less familiar categories native to that country. This means the industry can get access to high quality brands of Asia-centric categories like shochu, soju, arrack, baijiu and more, enabling more in-depth product knowledge and wider diversification of bar menus.” says Henry Stonham, Senior Project Manager – BCB Singapore.
